80 Megapixels of Sweetness

This is a simple movie focusing on the detail captured in a film scan. The scan’s “megapixel equivalent” is 80 Megapixels. The film was Kodak Tri-X, shot with a Hasselblad 500c. As I always say, there is nothing like film. Nothing!

    i did a scan with a imacon scanner scanned at 3200 DPI result around 61 mpx. I do agree that film photography have a better feeling than digital i am now shooting my personal work only with film.

    If someone want to see the result i did a screen flow video its the first video on my channel Enjoy

    @MrAdrpino For that picture I think I used my Nikon Coolscan 9000. Before I had the Nikon I was scanning with an Epson v750 Pro. And around the time I made that scan was about the time I got the Nikon. So I’m not sure which scanner I used. The Epson is a great scanner by the way. If you’re in the market, you should definitely consider it.

    What scanner you used?

    @themacdaddytj oh ok awesome

    @gareler 1. Because I love that church. 2. Because I think shooting a gothic church allows you to see how much detail and definition a camera/lens/film captures than a landscape. You don’t find brick and architectural accents and edges in landscape photography. 3. Landscapes are so commonplace now that I find them boring and repetitive.

  7. gareler says:

    why would you take an 80 megapixel picture of a church? take a landscape pic or something

    @stormbytes It’s cool, brother. I have no issue with zeal when it comes to film ;-)

    lol okay then maybe i got a little overzealous! sorry I’m a hardcore film scanning buff!

    @stormbytes This wasn’t meant to be a test to begin with actually. It was just a little video for those with little or no ‘exposure’ to film (pun intended) who might be curious about what a full resolution scan looks like. That’s all. Nothing earth shattering ;-)

    This really isn’t very telling, I’m sorry to say. Tx400 is not a hi-res film, not by any means. Repeat your test with Adox CHS 25 Art 120 developed in some fine-grain soup and the scan will change your life forever
